The idea of having a compression member work in tandem with a tension member seemed like an ideal way to play to carbon fiber’s strengths. So I create each composite unit: two linear members, positioned anywhere in space, connected by a carbon fber mesh. Then we created a grid of linear members that alternated between horizontal and vertical orientations. We then connected each member to its adjacent neighbors. This resulted in three unique components that could then be aggregated indefinitely. And then we created an agent-based system were each has its own magnetic field that causes adjacent agents to align them-selves in a perpendicular fashion. After the research and the force analysis experiment, we design building construction in Philadelphia with the tensegrity structure. And design a adjustable surface with wind controller to create a comfortable wind environment inside the building. During the manufacturing process, I design a 360 degree jig to break the limitation of traditional jig.
